Most things you buy were made before you ever wanted them.
Somewhere, a quantity was guessed at. A warehouse was filled. A shelf was stocked. Your purchase was the end of a very long wait for something to be needed.
We have started doing it the other way around, at least for bulk ordering.
What Made to Order Means
When a boutique, gift shop, or gift-box company places a bulk order with Provision Soap Co., we make that batch for them. The Heritage Bar is poured, cut, and cured specifically for that order. It does not come out of a stockroom. It comes out of a cure shelf with a customer's name on it.
That is why bulk orders carry a lead time of eight to ten weeks. Eight of those weeks are the cure. The rest is shipping and delivery. There is no shortcut in the middle, because the bar needs the time.
Why We Work This Way
Made to order is not the fastest way to run a business. It is the most honest way we know to run ours.
It means we are not guessing at demand. It means no bar is made only to sit. It means that when a shop opens a box of Provision soap, every bar in it was made with that shop in mind. And it keeps us small enough to do the one thing we care about most: make each bar well.
How a Bulk Order Works
- The Heritage Bar (5 oz) is the bulk product at this time.
- The minimum order is 100 bars at $10 per bar.
- Full payment is required upfront, because the batch is made for you.
- Lead time is 8 to 10 weeks.
If you run a retail shop, a gift-box company, or a subscription, you can request bulk info on our bulk orders page. Tell us about your business and roughly how many bars you have in mind.
A Note on Timing
Because of the lead time, we recommend ordering early for the holidays and other seasonal gifting. The cure cannot be rushed, and we would rather tell you that plainly now than promise something we cannot keep.
Made for Someone
There is something we like about it: a bar of soap that was made for a particular shelf, a particular box, a particular customer down the line. It is a small thing, but it is the kind of small thing we are in business to do.
